Dining Tuesday at Harborside benefits Hope Elephants

By Hope Elephants | Feb 01, 2013

So how does that work? When you order from the regular menu at Graffam Bros. Harborside Restaurant, 15 Bayview Landing, Camden on Tuesday, Feb. 5 from 5- 9 p.m., one-half of your check total (exclusive of tip) will be donated by the Graffam family to us (Hope Elephants). We are a nonprofit organization in Hope that cares for injured retired elephants and provides educational programming about elephants and wildlife conservation.

A representative of the organization will be present during the dinner hours to answer questions and talk about the project with anyone interested.

Resident elephants Rosie and Opal are settling into their new home under the care of veterinarian Jim Laurita. They arrived in late October.

Fundraising is underway for an indoor educational area and an outside raised viewing platform. The thousandth schoolchild visited the facility earlier this month, and development of a curriculum for use in schools is progressing well.

More information about Hope Elephants is available at its website www.hopeelephants.org and on its Facebook page www.facebook.com/hopeelephants , which can be read without logging into the social website.

Through its restaurant, the Graffam family is reaching out to help small local nonprofit agencies like Hope Elephants by hosting similar events on Tuesday evenings through March.
