Tenants Harbor — Jackson Memorial Library, 71 Main St./Route 131, will show an exhibition of paintings by St. George artists Melissa Derbyshire and Wendy Hayes Mantooth from Thursday, Jan. 2, through Feb. 26. All artworks are for sale; the library receives a 30 percent commission.

The public is invited to an opening reception Friday, Jan. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring live music by Angela Anderson Pomerleau of Dory in the Desert; snow date is Jan. 17.

Derbyshire, a watercolorist who lives in Port Clyde, utilizes transparent color to express moods, creates colorful and surprising compositions that transport viewers into soft mysterious worlds. She has studied with noted artists including Nancy Fortunato, Phil Austin, Janet Rogers and Barbara Nechis.

Mantooth, a resident of St. George, creates paintings that convey the serenity and beauty she experiences in the coastal environment.  She studied art in various classes while in college in Cambridge, Mass., and her work has been featured in local venues.
