DEP seeks grant applications to reduce diesel emissions

May 15, 2017

Augusta — Maine's Department of Environmental Protection is seeking applications for projects that achieve significant reductions in diesel emissions from older diesel engines and vehicles. Maine DEP is eligible to apply for grant funding through the competitive federal EPA Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program in accordance with the Diesel Emission Reduction Act. Project applications include replacing or repowering marine vessels, vehicles and equipment.

In the past, Maine DEP has funded more than 100 marine repowers through the Clean Marine Engine Program and replaced older diesel school buses with new school buses powered by propane and compressed natural gas.

For more information, see epa.gov/sites/production/files/2017-04/documents/rfp-epa-oar-otaq-17-04.pdf. To apply for grant funding, contact Lynne Cayting, Maine DEP at lynne.a.cayting@maine.gov or 287-7599.
