Dell speaks to historical society
Cushing — Roger Dell, Director of Education at the Farnsworth Art Museum, will give a talk about how the arts affect our lives at a meeting of the Cushing Historical Society Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m.
Dell works with Midcoast teachers and is connected with the Lincoln Center in New York City. He has been a very prominent figure in the local Maine art scene since his arrival in 2007. Previously, he worked at the Fitchburg Art Museum in Massachusetts, the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art and the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Dell is a frequent lecturer and instructor, currently teaching in the Museum Studies Program at the Harvard Extension School.
The meeting will take place in the Cushing Historical Society meeting house on Hawthorn Point Road, just off Pleasant Point Road. The meeting will begin with a short business meeting, followed by the program. The public is welcome.
The final meeting of 2014 will be the annual fall potluck supper Thursday, Oct. 9, at 6 p.m. The business meeting will commence at 7:30 p.m., followed by a talk on hardy roses by Peter Kukielski, rose culture expert.
