Debut novel from local author
Damariscotta — Lanie (Lee) Bross of Union’s debut novel “Fates” will be released Tuesday, Feb. 11, by Delacorte Press. She will sign the book Saturday, Feb. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maine Coast Book Shop & Café, 158 Main St.
In “Fates,” aimed at readers age 12 and older, a girl who is not human must bring about the death of the boy she loves or risk banishment from her home forever. The first in a planned two-book series inspired by the ancient Greeks’ paradoxical view of fate, this epic tale of free will and destiny follows two teens who must journey through multiple worlds in the name of love.
The shocking conclusion will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series. Fortunately, Delacorte plans to release “Destined,” a an e-book prequel, on March 11.
Bross was born in small-town Maine and spent 18 years dreaming of bigger places. After exploring city life, she and her husband and two young sons ended up coming right back, to live just one house away from where she grew up. “Fates” is her first novel.
