Deadline nears for annual poetry contest
Rockland — Entries for the Poetry Month Rockland 2013 Poetry Contest must be submitted to Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St., Rockland, ME 04841 no later than Monday, April 1. The contest is open to adults (20-and-older), teens (13 to 19) and children (4 to 12) within the state of Maine. This year's theme is Landscapes.
There is no fee for the contest, and prizes will be awarded in all three age categories. Teen and Adult entries must be typed on one sheet of standard computer/typing paper, single-spaced and in a simple 12-point font. Poets are asked to enter only one poem; do not send the only copy. Those entering in the Children’s category may write the poems in longhand on lined paper, as long as the poems are neat and readable.
Attached to the poem should be a 3-by-5 inch index card with poet’s name; phone number or email address; title of the poem; and age category (do not put poet’s name on the poem itself). Poems may be mailed or dropped off at the library circulation desk. For more information, contact Patty King at Rockland Public Library at 594-0310 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
