David Lee Welker
Waldoboro — In loving memory of David Lee Welker, who passed away Aug. 31, 2013.
Born June 6, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., to Paul Lee Alexander Welker and Edith Fern Ricketts.
He received his bachelor's of arts degree from the University of Illinois. David played bass clarinet, clarinet, and saxophone in The President's Own United States Marine Band for 32 years. He retired in 1987 with the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant, having played under eight presidential administrations.
David and Marian were longtime residents of Waldoboro, where David taught music, enjoyed gardening, and served as director of music at Round Top Center for the Arts, in Damariscotta.
David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marian, brother, James and children, David, Max, Eric, Ellen, and Beth.
