David B. Cobey
Cushing — David Cobey of Cushing passed away Nov. 15, 2013, at Pen Bay Medical Center supported by his wife, family and hospice.
Survived by his wife Katharine, children and grandchildren in Fredericksburg, Va., and stepchildren in the U.S. and England, he was born to Irish Catholics, worked on by Benedictines, Yale, MIT, the University of Pennyslvania and many caring people.
In David’s words “I designed places from Washington, D.C.; collaborated in starting Montessori elementary and junior high schools in Northern Virginia; relocated in 1992 to a beautiful place in Cushing; represented Cushing on its school board for nine years, and worked on both the Ordinance and Planning committees for the town, built my wife a studio; and had some success bringing town governance out of the back room.
“I had the extraordinary pleasure of living with an extraordinary woman. I delighted in slant light, youth, design, women, trees, art and pre-history.”
