David A. Larner

Newport — David A. Larner, 79, died Jan. 14, 2014, at a Pittsfield hospital.

He was born July 5, 1934 in Bangor, a son of Arthur and Katherine (Moore) Larner. David worshiped our creator as a Jehovah’s Witness. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

He enjoyed time spent with loved ones and friends, as well as boating, diving, building houses, aviation, tinkering and repairing things.

In addition to his intended wife, Gertrude Lawler of Newport, he is survived by his children, Dennis Larner of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Davine Traften of Brunswick, Ga., Benjamin Larner of Appleton, and Mark Larner of Bakersfield, Calif.; his step-children, Michael Marin of Bakersfield, Calif., Christine Colby of Palmyra, and Gerald Marin of Augusta; a brother, James Larner of Bangor; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A gathering for close friends and family in remembrance of David will be held at the home of Gerry and Christine Colby, 73 Warren Hill Road, Palmyra, Saturday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m.
