DAR Good Citizen Awards presentation Nov. 17
Thomaston — The Lady Knox Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will hold their regular meeting on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. at the Cole House, next to Montpelier, the General Henry Knox Museum, in Thomaston.
Three area high school seniors will be presented with Good Citizen Awards at this month’s meeting. Oceanside East High School, Camden Hills Regional High School and the Camden Community School participated in this year’s Good Citizen’s program. The names of the winning students will be announced at the meeting.
DAR members and those interested in learning more about DAR are encouraged to attend. The Lady Knox Chapter DAR meets monthly, March through November. The chapter generally meets at the Cole House one Saturday a month at 10 a.m., but holds one of their meetings each year at Quarry Hill Retirement Community in Camden, to honor 50-plus year member, Ann Foster, who lives at Quarry Hill.
The chapter last met at Quarry Hill in September, when members, including Foster, assembled care packages for military personnel stationed in the Helmand Province, Afghanistan. The local DAR chapter is active in numerous community projects in Thomaston and surrounding areas. The DAR’s next community activity will be the decoration of the dining room of Montpelier for the General Henry Knox Museum’s Christmas open house.
