Dancing with the Local Stars takes the stage May 9

Camden — On Friday, May 9, 10 Midcoast celebrities will take the stage of The Camden Opera House to show off their best dance moves in support of Wayfinder Schools.

Stars Rafi Baeza, Mimi Bornstein, Allie Bowen, Staci Coomer, Kerry Hadley, Justin Hills, Robin Jordan, Colin Page, Jennifer Ross-Boshes and Amanda Strong will Salsa, Samba, Tango, Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Hip Hop, Hustle and Swing their way into the hearts of audience members, all for a great cause — helping Maine teens graduate from high school.

Each star will be paired with a professional dance instructor from Swing & Sway Dancing or Kinetic Energy Alive and the show will also include special performances by Studio Red, Shana Bloomstein, Nathifa Shakti, Korinn’s Dance, Rockport Dance Conservatory, People to People Dance Center, Swing & Sway Dancing, Kinetic Energy Alive and the students of Wayfinder Schools, making for an unforgettable evening in support of Maine kids.

Hair and makeup for the stars will be provided by The Cutting Room and Beauty Mark, transportation for the stars will be provided by Country Coach Charters, and refreshments will be provided by Atlantic Baking Company. Gordon Page, executive director of Rockland Main Street, Inc., will serve as master of ceremonies and the after party will be hosted by Sea Bright, with DJ Terry Frank.

Sally Leighton recorded the sound track, Aiden Lammert is the sound technician, Alan Athearn has volunteered as photographer and Tessa Antolini is producing the show. This community effort would not be possible without the generosity of the 2014 Dancing with Local Stars sponsors: Lead Event Sponsor Camden Real Estate Company, Maine Magazine, Pen Bay Pilot, and Investment Management & Consulting Group.

This show sells out quickly and early purchase of tickets is strongly recommended. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under, and are available at Camden National Bank, Green Tree Coffee and Tea, HAVII, The Grasshopper Shop, Beauty Mark Spa, The Reading Corner, The Camden Opera House, Swing & Sway Dancing and at wayfinderschools.org.
