Cushing, Thomaston students learn tales of America
Cushing — Students at Lura Libby and Cushing Community Schools were treated to Heartwood Regional Theater’s "America Tales" performance at the Cushing School on Nov. 9.
The show was made possible by the generosity Regional School Unit 13 Adult and Community Education Program and its director Shannon Parker.
Three actresses presented three distinctly American stories with three different styles of storytelling. The performance included "The Mud Pony," a Native American myth; "Dust Devil," a Midwestern tall tale, and "Wiley and the Harry Man," a scary story from the Bayou.
After the performance, the actresses held a workshop with fourth-grade students, allowing the students to experience many forms of performing arts including theater, mime, dance, storytelling, and puppetry.
