Cruise supports seabird conservation
Port Clyde — Friends of Maine’s Seabird Islands will host a cruise aboard the Monhegan Boat Line’s Elizabeth Ann on Sunday, July 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. to showcase the natural history and the seabird nesting islands along the Midcoast.
Staff members of the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge and Friends of Maine’s Seabird Islands will speak about island habitat conservation and restoration projects that have resulted in the re-establishment of long-absent seabird breeding colonies.
Space on the Elizabeth Ann is limited and advance reservations are required. The boat will depart from the Monhegan boat landing in Port Clyde. Call 594-0600 ext. 5 to reserve a space. The cost is $45. The rain date is Sunday, July 22.
The mission of Friends of Maine’s Seabird Islands is to encourage the appreciation and conservation of Maine’s rich diversity of coastal habitats, seabirds and other wildlife. Friends of Maine’s Seabird Islands works closely with the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge and supports a variety of seabird conservation and restoration projects.
