Rockport — Students dressed to the nines June 12 at Camden-Rockport Elementary School to say goodbye to their principal in their own special way.

"The kids looked fabulous, and I was so surprised," Principal Theresa Lash said."I love seeing them all dressed up and I am going to miss every single one of them."

She notified the School Administrative District 28 School Board and Superintendent Elaine Nutter of her plans to move on and try something new at the end of the school year and the board accepted her resignation at its Jan. 15 meeting.

Lash, an emergency medical technician in Waldoboro, said she is going to go back to college to become a registered nurse.

"It is something I have a passion for and there is a great need for nurses," she said. "I am an EMT and continuing in the medical field seems like a nice transition."
