On October 12, Spyglass Tutoring will be teaching a four-and-a-half hour course on how to write college application essays that will stand out to an admissions committee. The course will be taught by Dr. Chelsea Avirett, who has helped over a hundred students write vibrant and consequential personal essays.
This four-and-a half house course will teach students strategies to:
1) confidently and uniquely answer the Common Application essay questions;
2) craft a meaningful application essay by including a coherent and original argument;
3) select and highlight narrative details/descriptions that support, develop, and nuance the argument in fewer than 650 words;
4) write vivid and clear prose that reflects each student’s personal voice.
The course includes four hours of small group instruction (max. 8 students) and a 30-minute individual session, which will offer targeted and personalized revision strategies.
The course meets October 12 from 9.15-1.15 (with the individual session meeting the following week) in the Boardroom of the Rockland Public Library. Cost is $150 and credit cards are accepted online.
