Contra weekend at the Blue Goose
Northport — A full weekend of contra dance is coming to the Blue Goose dance hall on Route 1 Friday through Sunday, Oct. 4 through 6. The Contra Colours Dance Weekend is produced by Sound of Perfection with Maine’s own Perpetual e-Motion as the host band. Also appearing will be Quebec-based trio Genticorum.
Registration runs through Friday, Sept. 20, for the three days of dance, workshops, local food from land and sea, culture and community. Dancers can expect spicy, intricate and energetic rhythms set to infectious harmonies.

Lisa Greenleaf from the Boston area will be the guest caller. Greenleaf is a master teacher in the art of contra calling regarded highly across the United States. The host caller is Kim Roberts of Farmington, who also will be leading morning yoga warm-up.
The Blue Goose is steeped rich in a history of dances on its original wood suspended floor. The $175 registration fee includes all food, dancing and workshops. Coastal Critters Clambakes will provide a lobster bake; sushi chef and musician Julie Vallimont will offer sushi rolls created for this special event and provide waltz music on the keyboard.
