Community Spotlight to take stage in Rockport
Rockport — Have an idea, event, or project that has made the community a better place? On Wednesday, June 25, at 5:30 p.m. Friends of Midcoast Maine will be featuring 10 Pecha-Kucha-Ted-Talk like presentations called Community Spotlight on the stage of the Rockport Opera House and 20 Community Showcase booths for Maine communities, individuals and organizations to learn about exciting things happening in Maine.
The theme is Building Strong Communities, which will be continued throughout the evening during the social hour, the Community Spotlight and the Community Showcase events. FMM is focusing on Midcoast and other Maine people and communities tackling tough problems, developing innovative solutions and creative projects, and building stronger communities.
Community Spotlight proposals are due on June 2. Only 10 will be selected to present on stage. Each presentation must include slides in a variation of Pecha-Kucha and Ted-Talk like presentations of 5 minutes each. A $500 prize will be available to the People’s Choice presentation. Individuals, organizations, and communities are invited to submit proposals for consideration.
Community Showcase is a table or booth to present your business, organization, and community’s plans, projects, products and ideas to event guests. During the evening, organizations, businesses and communities can host a table to showcase their work. Bring brochures, maps, plans, and photos that show what you have done to make your community a better place.
Sponsors are also invited to sponsor the evening, the bar and the food. Check out our registration form and charges at friendsmidcoast.org.
