Community Connections dinner Feb. 12 to support Aldermere Farm

Feb 07, 2014

Camden — Have a meal at Cappy's Chowder House and Harbor View Restaurant in Camden the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 12 and part of the proceeds will go to benefit Maine Coast Heritage Trust’s Aldermere Farm.

Aldermere Farm is a scenic landmark of Midcoast Maine and home to one of the world’s premier herds of Belted Galloway cattle. The 136-acre saltwater farm located in Rockport is maintained by the trust as a model working farm and educational center helping visitors and the local community deepen their appreciation for land conservation and sustainable agriculture.

Hundreds of youth every year benefit from hands-on agricultural programs at both Aldermere Farm and the Erickson Fields Preserve, another MCHT farm preserve down the road from Aldermere Farm in Rockport. Many of these youth then go into more advanced agricultural and environmental programs and some will ultimately be the large animal vets, farmers, agricultural scientist, etc. that help foster an agricultural and land ethic for future generations.

Support the important agricultural outreach work that Aldermere Farm organizes year-round by having dinner at Cappy’s Feb. 12, between 5 and 9 p.m. Aldermere Farm staff will be on hand at Cappy’s to speak to patrons about the farm, the herd, programs, events, and more. Reservations are only accepted for parties of eight or more.

This event is part of a winter long series of events called Community Connections where local community programs can reach out to the community and also receive a percentage of the funds from that evening's meals. Thank you to the Graffam family and Cappy's Chowder House and Harbor View for working together to continue the Community Connections program! Aldermere Farm and MCHT appreciates your support.
