Family holiday event, fundraiser
WALDOBORO — Midcoast Music Together will be hosting a free Family Holiday Event and Fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 10:30 to noon at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Waldoboro, 377 Manktown Road.
Join in a holiday sing-along "music together" style where the whole family is invited to participate. Guest Dena Davis owner of Dena's Barefoot Book Nook will be there with children's books and toys for sale and will provide a craft. Baked goods, refreshments and raffles for sale. Raffles include donated items from local organizations including K2 Music, Thirty One Gifts, Barefoot Book Nook, Midcoast Music Together and more.

Miller benefit supper
WASHINGTON — On Saturday, Dec. 15 at 5 p.m. there will be a benefit supper to support Wayne C. Miller, who has small cell lung cancer. The dinner will be held at the Masonic Lodge. The cost is $7 per person and donations are welcome. All proceeds support Miller in his time of need. There will be a 50/50 drawing, raffle for items.
After School Program openings
ROCKLAND — The Rockland Recreation Department has several full and part-time openings in its After School Program. Kindergarten to fifth-grade students are accepted and the program runs from 3 to 6 p.m. Programs during school vacations and teacher workshops are also offered. Santa comes to town
WALDOBORO — On Sunday, Dec. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. Santa will arrive by fire truck at his fire station in the parking lot across from the Movie Pizza Shoppe to hear Christmas wishes of children young and old. Presented by Waldoboro Firemen's Association.

Friendship Community Calendar photo contest
FRIENDSHIP — This year the Community Calendar Committee will have a Photo Contest for the main picture of the 2013 calendar. The contest runs through Jan. 1.
Pictures must be taken from somewhere in Friendship (islands included) and must not have close shots of people in them. For example, a distant picture of someone walking on the beach, flying a kite, or digging clams would be OK.
Drop off boxes are at Friendship Village School and the town office. Please name, either parent’s name if child and a phone number on a piece of paper along with the picture in a sealed envelope in one of the two drop off boxes (4x6 pictures are preferred).
The calendar supports graduating Friendship high school students with scholarships.
