A benefit dinner for Olivia Blachet will be held Saturday, Aug. 16 at Warren Odd Fellows.

Blachet benefit dinner

WARREN — Michael and Teresa Blachet, the parents of Olivia Blachet are holding a benefit dinner Saturday, Aug. 16, at 5 p.m. at Warren Odd Fellows Hall on Route 90.

The menu includes beans, hot dogs, slaw, and rolls. Kids meals will have the option of chips instead of beans.

The costs is $6 for adults, $3 for children and a silent auction will follow. Winners will be called if not present to collect prize.

Donations also  can be made at The First N.A under Olivia Blachet Medical Expenses.

Wessaweskeag Historical Society meets Aug. 14

SOUTH THOMASTON — The August meeting of the Wessaweskeag Historical Society will be held Thursday, Aug. 14. The evening begins with a business meeting at 5:30 p.m., potluck at 6 p.m. and a speaker after dinner.

This month, Pleasance Kaufman Crawford will talk about Louis Fogg's 1894-1896 diary, written as a teenager living in the house where Pleasance grew up in the Keag village.

The society's meeting room is located at the corner of Elm Street (Route 73) and Dublin Road, adjacent to the library. Please call 594-7416 for more information.

Church tag sale

UNION — The second annual Church Tag Sale at the Union Church of the Nazarene will be held Saturday Aug. 16, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rain or shine.

Many items, including early highchair and wooden file cabinet, windows, crossbow, outdoor tables and stands, baked goods and more.

The church is located at 85 Townhouse Road in Union, top of hill between Commons and Four Corners.

ST. GEORGE — The 147th Kalloch Famly Reunion will be held Saturday, Aug. 16 at the St. George Grange in St. George. Get an oil change, support Kno-Wal-Lin's Auxiliary

ROCKPORT — Need an oil change? Why not support Kno-Wal-Lin's Auxiliary at the same time?

During the month of August, Rockport Automotive will donate $5 to the Kno-Wal-Lin Auxiliary for every oil change they perform. The Auxiliary was chosen as the designated charity as part of Rockport Automotive's Giving Back in the Community program for the month of August. Rockport Automotive is located at 271 Commercial Street in Rockport. The offer extends through Aug. 31.

Kno-Wal-Lin’s Auxiliary volunteer program was the first home care volunteer program developed in the state of Maine. The Auxiliary works tirelessly to support Kno-Wal-Lin and its staff to fulfill their mission to provide quality and accessible home care services to the people of Midcoast Maine.

Cushing road closure

CUSHING — The River Road will be closed Monday to Wednesday, Aug. 25-27 near 629 River Road for a culvert replacement.
