Mad Science of Maine: Fizz, Boom, Pop

ROCKLAND — Mad Science of Maine will present its show Thursday, July 10, at 2:30 p.m. at Rockland Public Library. This hour-long science show is packed solid with cool reactions.

Marine Corps League breakfast

WARREN — The Marine Corps League Mid-Coast Detachment 637 hosts the 18th annual SOS Breakfast Saturday, July 12, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Warren Odd Fellows Hall, at the junction of Routes 1 and 90 in Warren. Menu: SOS, eggs, toast, home fries, and beverages.

Open to all Marines past and present, friends of Marines, FMF Corpsmen and all active duty service members. Donations accepted. All proceeds used to support Maine veterans. Please call 691-6766 to RSVP.

Annual indoor yard sale

THOMASTON — The Thomaston Federated Church, 8 Hyler St., hosts an indoor yard sale Saturday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. Something for everyone, especially crafts. Contents of a hobby room on sale. There will also be clothes, household items, homemade baked goods, books and toiletries. Bag sale starts at 11 a.m.

Bean hole bean supper

CUSHING — Broad Cove Church will host a bean hole bean supper Saturday, July 12. Continuous seating starts at 5 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and younger. Includes two kinds of beans, coleslaw, hot dogs, biscuits, homemade pies and beverage.

WALDOBORO — The North Waldoboro Church of the Nazarene and the Union Church of the Nazarene are co-hosting their first joint-church Bean Supper, to raise funds for their Winter Ministries H.O.P.E. (Heating, Outreach, Projects & Events) program.

The supper is Saturday, July 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12.

Along with homemade beans, there will be hotdogs, homemade coleslaw and ice cream sundaes for dessert. There will also be items available under silent auction, including several car wash certificates and more.

Kid's activities and recycled book craft sale

UNION — On Saturday, July 19, from 11 a.m. to noon, join Vose Library in its tent on the Union Common for kids stories and activities. Handmade recycled book craft items, such as journals, pinwheels, note cards, and more to support the library. In case of rain, activities and recycled book craft sale will be held at the library.

Call for treasures

ST. GEORGE — Treasure donations needed for Jackson Memorial Library annual Book Fair, July 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Treasure includes anything but electronics and bedding. Have a pile for the thrift shop? Stop by the library instead and drop off those un-needed clothing, toys, kitchenware, trinkets books and DVDs in good shape. The treasure shop has really taken off in the last few years and the funds raised have resulted in new books and programs for the library. All donations appreciated.
