Turkey dinner

UNION — People's United Methodist Church, 21 Depot St., will hold its popular annual Turkey Dinner Friday, April 11, at 6 p.m., with entertainment to follow at 7 p.m.

The menu will consist of a traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings, homemade pies for dessert, and assorted beverages. Members of the congregation provide the entertainment, both musical and comical, and Pastor George Hodgkins has been known to make a cameo appearance in a very unexpected role. Tickets are priced at $12.

Free oral cancer screenings

ROCKPORT — MidCoast Family Dentistry is offering free oral cancer screenings Tuesday, April 15, from 5 to 6 p.m. to celebrate Oral Cancer Awareness Month. One does not need to a patient at MidCoast Family Dentistry, but please call 236-3100 to make an appointment. Visits last about 10 minutes and are painless.

Entomologist to speak in Warren

WARREN — Entomologist Bob Emmons will return to the Warren Field and Garden Club Thursday, April 17 to speak about common fungus and viruses that affect gardens. Emmons is a retired professor of Plant Sciences, and continues to share his knowledge at adult education and other local events. His program will start at 10 a.m. at the Warren Historical Society, at 225 Main St., in the village. Public is invited to attend. For more information, contact Carolyn Damon at 273-1310.

Sen. Johnson holds office hours

WALDOBORO — The first Saturday of every month, Sen. Chris Johnson, D-Somerville will be at the Waldoboro Public Library from 9 to 10 a.m. to be available to anyone who would like to speak with him or just stop by to say hello. The public is encouraged to take advantage of the senator’s in-district office hours.
