Benefit dinner Feb. 8

LINCOLNVILLE — There will be a benefit potluck supper for Bill Feener, who lost his garage in a Christmas Eve fire.

The potluck will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. at Lincolnville Grange Hall, Route 52. The snow date is Feb. 9. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children.

All donations will be gratefully appreciated and will be collected at the door as well as at Viking Lumber in Lincolnville Beach where a building fund has been established.

Washington Grange Farmers Market celebrates Valentines Day

WASHINGTON — The Washington Grange Farmers Market will be held Saturday, Feb. 8. Regular members will be joined by guest vendors offering items with a Valentines Day theme. Baked goods, fabric hearts stuffed with balsam fir needles, wooden wares, heart shaped wreaths, jewelry and more will be on sale. The next monthly winter market will be March 15. Weekly markets will begin April 12 and culminate with two holiday markets Dec 6 and 13. Market is held rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Evening Star Grange, Old Union Road  (across from the Gibbs library) in Washington. FMI, call 845-2140.

February break at Thomaston library

THOMASTON — February Break at the Thomaston Public Library begins with a day focusing on Collections. On Tuesday, Feb. 18, bring something to show and tell about as the group plays with dolls and Legos.

Join Chief Kevin Haj as he reads an agricultural story and talks about raising sheep on Wednesday, Feb. 19. On Feb. 20, there will be a science experiment on buoyancy. Kids will be asked to guess whether or not different things will float. This will be a part of a Things That Go theme. On Feb. 21, children ages 7 and up will dream up characters and settings, create story cubes, and begin writing their very own stories. Imagination, creativity, fun, and the writing process will be the focus of this workshop. Space is limited, so please call 354-2453 to register for the writing workshop.

Boston Celtics Bus Trip

WALDOBORO — The Waldoboro Recreation Department has plenty of seats available for a bus trip to see the Boston Celtics take on the Phoenix Suns.

The game is scheduled for Friday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m., Friday. Cost is $85 per person and includes transportation to/from the Banknorth Garden via motorcoach and admission to the game. The bus will depart the Waldoboro VFW parking lot at 12:30 p.m. and stop at Fanuiel Hall Marketplace prior to the game. Seats have been reserved in section 329. Payment in full is required at time of registration. Cancellations are subject to a $5 per person processing fee. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Feb. 12.
