Food drive for local pantries, potluck supper

THOMASTON — There is a food drive to support local food pantries and a potluck supper Thursday, Jan. 23, at 6 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of St. John Baptist in Thomaston, located on the corner of Main and Green streets.

Please bring food and or contributions for the food pantry to the dinner.

There will be a showing of the documentary film "A Place at the Table, after the dinner.

There food drive will run through Friday, Feb. 28 as a way to pay local tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collecting points and sponsors of the food drive: Thomaston Public Library, Cushing Public Library, Episcopal Church of St. John Baptist in Thomaston, and Thomaston Baptist Church.

Public circle supper

ROCKLAND — There will be a public supper Monday, Jan. 27, at 5:30 p.m. at Rockland Congregational Church, located on Limerock St. The menu includes roast pork loin, mashed potato, dill carrots, biscuits and gingerbread and whipped cream. The cost is $8. For more information, call 594-8656.

Maine Army National Guard promotion

AUGUSTA — Brig. Gen. James D. Campbell, The Adjutant General for Maine, announces the promotion of Amanda Yates of Camden to sergeant. Yates, who was promoted to the rank in December, is a member of the 262nd Engineer Company.
