Rockland District Middle School Veteran’s Day Assembly
Rockland District Middle School will be holding its traditional Veteran’s Day breakfast and assembly Thursday, Nov. 7.
All veterans are welcome and encouraged to attend. Breakfast will start at 7:45 a.m. in the library. The assembly will start at 8:30 a.m. in the gymnasium.
Rockland Kiwanis to collect e-waste
ROCKLAND — Rockland Kiwanis Club is organizing an e-waste drop off, which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the JCPenney parking lot.
tems that will be accepted include: Household electronics (TVs, monitors, DVD players, VCRs, radio/stereo, and microwave ovens).
Items not accepted include: Appliances and white goods (ovens, washer/dryers, etc.), Freon-bearing items (refrigerators, air conditioners, etc.), fluorescent bulbs, and mercury-bearing items (thermometer, thermostats, etc.)
All donations collected will benefit Area Interfaith Outreach.
Waldoboro Rec annual senior Christmas shopping bus trip
WALDOBORO — The Waldoboro Recreation Department is sponsoring a bus trip for senior citizen's (55-plus) to the Newington, N.H. area to get an early start on Christmas shopping.
The bus will leave the Waldoboro VFW parking lot on Mill St. on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 8 a.m. and return at approximately 5:30 p.m. Stops include the Fox Run Mall and other nearby stores. The trip is free for Waldoboro residents and $25 for non-residents. Participants are responsible for the cost of their own lunch. Space is limited to 55 passengers. Waldoboro residents have priority seating, non-residents will be placed on a waiting list and will be notified by Nov. 14 if they receive a seat.

AUGUSTA — John Gunning II of Washington has been promoted to sergeant first class
Gunning is a member of Company B, 3/172d Infantry. Gunning was promoted to rank in September 2013.
Seeking winter coat donations
ROCKLAND — Spectrum Generations will be collecting warm winter coats; men's and women's. Coats should be clean and in good wearable condition. Any size.
All coats will be transported to LL Bean, cleaned and distributed. LL Bean will contribute $5 to the Keep MEWarm Campaign for each coat donated.
Need a warm coat this winter? Check in with Spectrum Generations. Starting later in November, there will be a limited amount of coat vouchers.
Please bring coats to Spectrum Generations, located at 61 Park St. in Rockland. Deadline for donations is Thursday, Nov. 21, at noon.
