Colorful and useful pottery for every day

By Arts in the Park | Jun 30, 2014

Rickie Bogle claims to have created a nice little life for herself, making pottery in Portland, Maine. "Who knew you could be a potter if you wanted to?" She makes a variety of functional pots from scratch, thrown on a wheel and hand painted. The designs are simple to let the shape of the piece and the colors stand for themselves. She even allows customers to choose their own color schemes, because "I want you to love every piece that you get from me."

Using her own pottery, she says: "When I'm inspired to make my grandmother's banana bread, I pull out one of my handmade pottery bowls to mix in and it somehow makes the experience more meaningful. There is a life and a story behind handmade pieces and they add depth to my life when they become part of my everyday experiences."

Rickie will be at Arts in the Park in Belfast with her colorful pots on July 12 and 13, 2014.
