Leominister, Mass. — Colleen M. Sykes, 19, of Leominister, Mass. died Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Health Alliance Leominister Hospital after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 16, 1993 in Waltham, Mass.

She leaves her parents, David L. and Laura A. (Horgan) Sykes and one sister, Melissa A. Sykes, all of Leominister; her paternal grandparents, Richard W. and Anne M. (Huot) Sykes of Rockland; three uncles, Peter Sykes and his wife Wendy of Encinitas, Calif.; Richard E. Horgan and his wife Cindy of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; Mark D. Horgan and his wife Debbie of Princeton, Mass.; three aunts, Lisa Sykes of Richmond, R.I.; Elizabeth Sykes of California and Lorraine Horgan of Natick, Mass. and many cousins, including a very special cousin, Rebecca Sykes of Encinitas, Calif.

Colleen was a sophomore at Middlesex Community College in Bedford, Mass., majoring in psychology. She was a 2010 graduate of North Central Charter Essential School in Fitchburg, Mass. She was a member of St. Leo's Parish in Leominister. She loved York Beach, cooking, traveling to anywhere, exercise, family and friends.

Her laugh was infectious, and she had a wonderful sense of humore.

Her funeral was celebrated on Sept. 29 at the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg with a mass in St. Leo's Church, 108 Main St., Leominister.

Burial will be at a later date in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg, Mass.
