Coastal Quilters to meet Dec. 8
Camden — Coastal Quilters will meet Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Camden Lions Club on Lion’s Lane.
Gather at 9:30 a.m. for coffee, conversation, settle in for a brief business meeting and then enjoy the Annual Holiday Potluck Brunch and extended Show and Tell with the addition this year of a Yankee Swap and Down Memory Lane feature.
A variety of rules/procedures exist for Yankee Swaps, bur basically, each participant brings a wrapped gift, used or new, with a $10 price limit, in this case preferably related to fabric arts — part of fun will be folks defending how their gift is related to fabric arts. Each participant draws a number and then the fun begins as each participant, in numerical order, selects a gift, opens the gift and decides to keep it or Yankee Swap it for someone else’s gift. Number one gets the last chance to swap.
Bring a special fabric arts projects for an expanded session of Show and Tell, including all those delicious holiday items made for gift giving. Remember, any fabric arts project is fine, quilting of course, but also, knitting, crochet work, sewing or any other type of creative project is perfect. If one is having a problem with something, bring that along, too.
The Show and Tell items can tie in to the other feature of the morning, Down Memory Lane where folks will have a chance to reflect on holidays past, sharing a specific, special memory or tradition (relating to fabric arts or not). Reveries could also include favorite seasonal, sensory experiences — smell, sound, sight, taste, touch.
Come and enjoy this time for seasonal celebration and camaraderie; the event is free and open to the public. Just bring a own signature potluck brunch dish, a Yankee Swap item and a memory or two to share. For more information, call Stevie Kumble, 236-2352 or Prudy Netzorg, 354-0938.
