Rockport — “Art to Collect Now,” the exhibition of work in CMCA’s 37th annual Benefit Art Auction, will open with a 5 to 7 p.m. reception Saturday, July 12. The invitational exhibition includes work from 100 of Maine’s most notable contemporary artists, who have donated all or part of the auction proceeds to CMCA. The art includes a wide range of media representing the diversity of art in Maine today.

The reception, at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art at 162 Russell Ave. in Rockport village, is free and open to the public. The exhibition will be on view through July 26.

The annual Benefit Art Auction & Dinner is CMCA’s most important fundraiser and provides critical support for exhibitions and programming. This year it will take place Sunday, July 27, at Point Lookout Resort on Route 1 in Northport. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit cmcanow.org or call 236-2875.

Major sponsors of the auction include Distinctive Tile & Design, Dowling Walsh Gallery, Machias Savings Bank, Margo Moore Interiors, Legacy Properties | Sotheby’s International Real Estate, and major media sponsor Maine Home + Design magazine.

CMCA is a nonprofit organization advancing contemporary art in Maine through exhibitions and educational programs. Galleries are open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.
