Classic jazz, on Midcoast tour

Nora Cavin, a jazz vocalist from New York, will perform a series of concerts in Rockland and Thomaston during August. She will be accompanied by local musicians from the By the Bay Jazz Trio.

Cavin performs classics from the American Songbook including little-known works by Duke Ellington, George and Ira Gershwin, Fats Waller and many more. There is no admission charge for the local performances.

The Midcoast tour will begin Saturday, Aug. 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sail, Power and Steam Museum at Sharp's Point South, 75 Mechanic St., Rockland.

On Friday, Aug. 15, Cavin will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Highlands Coffee House, 189 Main St./Route 1, Thomaston. And on Sunday, Aug. 17, the combo will perform from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Quarry Tavern of the East Wind Inn, 21 Mechanic St., Tenants Harbor.
