Clara Winona (Bowden) Rolerson
Union — Clara Winona (Bowden) Rolerson died peacefully at her home in Union on Monday, Nov. 12, surrounded by her beloved family. Clara was born on Oct. 22, 1933, in Orrington to Joyce (Grindle) Bowden and Fred Bowden.
Clara was the valedictorian of her class at Monroe High School in 1951 and enjoyed a lifelong love of reading. She met the love her life, Willard Edmond Rolerson, on Islesboro and began her married life there. She and Willard worked throughout the Camden-Belfast area as house painters, raising their children in the family business. Willard predeceased her in 1987.
Eventually, Clara settled on the Higgins Road in Morrill, where she devoted herself to neighbors, friends and family until she moved to Union to be closer to her family, where she enjoyed spending time with family — especially her great-grandchildren. Clara is survived by her children, Ruth (Rolerson) St. Laurent, Keith Rolerson, Winona (Rolerson) Leighton, Marshall Rolerson, and Joyce (Rolerson) Hu; her grandchildren, Ben MacDonald, Robin Pease, Amy Denson, Chris Babcock, Ena Lupine, and Alex and Anli Hu; as well as eight great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her fun spirit, lively sense of humor and in the end her peace, grace and undying love.
A graveside service will be announced in the spring. Donations in lieu of flowers would be welcome in Clara’s name to Kno-Wal-Lin hospice or the Union Library. Online condolences may be offered to the family at ripostfh.com. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home.
