Clara M. Davenport
Kennebunk — Clara Miller Davenport, 93, died Dec. 14, 2013, in Kennebunk. She would have been 94 at the end of this month.
She was born on Dec. 29, 1919, in East Longmeadow, Mass., the daughter of John and Clara Miller.
She married John B. Davenport of Springfield, Mass. in 1942. After World War II, they settled in Longmeadow and later moved to Doylestown, Pa. In 1982, they moved to Thomaston, and spent winters in Crossville, Tenn. before settling in West Dennis, Mass., where they had spent many summers with their three children. They celebrated their 50th anniversary there in 1992. Clara moved to Kennebunk in 2009.
Clara is survived by her children, Dianne Beilby and her husband, George, of Center Conway, N.H., Joanne Johnson and her husband, Phil of Wellesley, Mass., and James Davenport and his wife, Susan of Cushing; and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Clara was predeceased by her husband and brothers and sisters.
Clara leaves a legacy of kindness, quiet strength, love and devotion to her family.
A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Clara’s husband, John B. Davenport to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Arrangements were made by the Hope Memorial Chapel in Biddeford.
