Civil War encampment coming to historical society

CAMDEN — The Camden-Rockport Historical Society will host the 20th Maine Civil War encampment on Saturday, Sept. 15 from noon to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 16 from noon to 3 p.m.

Re-enactors from the 20th Volunteer Infantry Company B, 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, 5th Corps of the Army of the Potomac will set up camp on the grounds of the historical society located on Route 1 next to Hannaford’s.

In addition to the re-enactments of camp life, drills and skirmishes, there will be demonstrations of crafts of the Civil War era, an antique quilt display, crafts for children, music and food of the period plus chuck wagon beans. Admission is free. For more information call 236-2257.
