Children's museum receives book donation
Rockland — Coastal Children’s Museum recently received a donation of a batch of Barefoot Books from local educator and Barefoot Books Ambassador, Dena Davis.
This summer Davis sold her lovely collection of books at the Lobster Festival Children’s Tent and decided to give back a percentage of all sales to a local nonprofit. Because of the gift, the museum was able to order books on topics ranging from pirates, to the genius of Leonardo Da Vinci.
Davis also presented a Penguin Play workshop to honor the museum’s Penguin Week during February vacation. Children heard stories and sang songs and even waddled around the museum in a penguin parade.
“We would like to express our deepest gratitude for this donation of books by Dena,” said Coastal Children’s Museum Program Coordinator Megan Rogers in a news release. “She has been a wonderful friend to the museum and to our whole community. She never tires of doing fantastic things and thinking of others in all she does, whether it be her workshops teaching children the joy and excitement of writing or her work at Dena’s Barefoot Book Nook sharing wonderful stories with us. She really is a wonder and a true treasure of a person and we are all lucky to have her in our community.”
For more information about the workshops Davis offers, visit her Facebook page at facebook.com/StoriesByTheSea or at denadavis.barefootbooks.com. On March 18, Davis will host a family stories workshop at the Rockland Public Library. Call the library at 594-0310 to sign up.
