Children's House Montessori offers parent education opportunities
This Wednesday, November 6, teachers at Children's House Montessori School will offer a choice of two excellent workshops about Montessori and your child. Any interested parents are welcome.
“Montessori in the Home” will be offered by Toddler teacher Meredith Gutheinz and Primary teachers Zoë Foster and Jackie Grannis Phoenix:
Involving children in the care of their home, of themselves and of others, supports them and fosters a spirit of commitment and collaboration in families. Children need opportunities to explore, experiment and try new things. By preparing and structuring the home environment to facilitate such exploration, parents can provide children with practical opportunities to experience independence, self-esteem and the joy of feeling like an important and useful member of the family. Montessori in the Home will provide suggestions and ideas families can use at home.
“The Montessori Math Advantage” will be offered by Elementary teachers Darci Grotton and Katy Hall Dermott:
The Montessori math curriculum is designed to set children up for a deep understanding of math concepts that will give them an advantage at all levels of their school experience. Children use concrete materials to provide a hands-on learning experience that promotes an understanding of advanced math concepts at a young age. This presentation will give an overview of the math curriculum with plenty of opportunity to try the materials yourself. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself wishing you had learned math the Montessori way!
Both workshops take place 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6 at Children’s House. There is no charge for either workshop. Please call 236-2911 to sign up for your choice of workshop by noon on Tuesday, November 5.
