Chamber Singers make final Rounds
The Chamber Singers of Thorndike’s Mt. View High School are wrapping up their 2012 Carols in the Round concert tour with performances at several Midcoast church and then the series-capping concert on their home turf.
On Friday, Dec. 14, the hour-long a cappella Carols in the Round concert will be presented at the Freedom Congregational Church, 45 Pleasant St. Refreshments will follow in Fellowship Hall.
On Saturday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m., the Chamber Singers will present the concert at Belfast United Methodist Church, 23 Mill Lane in East Belfast. The singers are well-known throughout the area and have enjoyed the privilege of traveling and performing for many people and many cultures over the years. Light refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall of the church at the conclusion of the performance.
On Sunday, Dec. 16, Lincolnville’s United Christian Church will present Carols in the Round at 4 p.m. as part of its advent Music and Reflection series. The church, built in 1812, is located at 18 Searsmont Road/Route 173 in Lincolnville Center and provides a lovely setting for the concert in which the singers surround the audience, singing in candlelight and rotating after each song. Following the program, a reception will be held in the newly renovated Community Building. In celebration of the occasion, there will be a display of seasonal and liturgical banners created by church members Barbara Bentley, Elizabeth O'Haverty and Julie Turkevich. All are welcome; the church is fully handicapped accessible. Doors will open approximately 3:30 p.m. and the audience is asked to be seated by 3:55 p.m. For more information, call 763-4526.
Also on Sunday, at 7 p.m., the Chamber Singers will perform the concert at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 47 Court St., Belfast. At all locations, free-will donations will be accepted to benefit the Singers, who also will have their CDs available for purchase.
Finally, Carols in the Round will arrive back home at Mt. View High School on Route 220 in Thorndike Thursday, Dec. 20 for the tour-ending concert at 7 p.m. in the Clifford Performing Arts Center.
