Cerese back at Landing

Jul 31, 2012
"Midsomer IV" is a recent acrylic by Irma Cerese.

Rockland — "Rhapsody in Hue," a solo exhibit by Irma Cerese of 53 new paintings that explore the use of color as a means to develop a visual dialogue, will open Thursday, Aug. 2 at Landing Gallery, 8 Elm St. The public is invited to a First Friday reception Aug. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Cerese's work has the ability to be seen  simultaneously as landscape and abstract paint surface. Color relationships and the effects they create are the underlying foundation as landscape subjects become a common ground between the artist and viewer, a reference point to experience Cerese's primary focus of color.

Cerese's paintings are in numerous private, corporate and institutional collections in the United States and Europe. Her show will run through Sept. 23 at Landing Gallery, open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
