SOUTH THOMASTON. — This Saturday is officially "St. Urho's Day", and the local Finnish-American groups will be celebrating with a Potluck Luncheon at 1:00 pm. This will be held in Jura Hall, which is the downstairs fellowship hall at the "Finnish Congregational Church". This also signals the start of regular activities for both the "Finn-Am Society" and the "Finnish Heritage House", following the annual two-month winter-break.

For those of you unfamiliar with St. Urho, he is the mythical hero who single-handedly banished all grasshoppers from Finland, thereby saving the grape harvests! His special "day" is always celebrated one day before the less-familiar St. Patrick's Day. Anyone interested in the history of this miraculous tale can check the website shown below.

All are invited to the potluck luncheon at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 16. "Tervetuloa"
