Celebrate International Literacy Day
Rockland — Literacy Volunteers of Mid-Coast Maine, located at the McLain School in Rockland, is joining the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy in celebrating International Literacy Day on Saturday, Sept. 8.
Literacy Volunteers of Mid-Coast Maine, with a supporting grant from the Barbara Bush Foundation and in partnership with RSU 13 Adult Education and the Rockland Public Library, operates the Know and Grow program. More than a dozen families have enrolled. Parents work toward earning their high school credential while their children engage in literacy-based activities with a child educator at the Rockland Public Library.
This year, donations will be highly leveraged. Every dollar that is donated will be matched three-fold by the Barbara Bush Foundation. If someone gives $25, Literacy Volunteers of Mid-Coast Maine will receive $100.
