By Spectrum Generations | Dec 11, 2012

Are you caring for a family member or friend with dementia and feel the frustration of not knowing how to help them as their memory loss increases – causing behavior changes.  Please take advantage of this free Savvy Caregiver six week training hosted by Spectrum Generations at its Muskie Center located at 38 Gold Street in Waterville.  The trainings will be held on Tuesdays, starting January 8th from 1 to 3p.m.

The Maine Savvy Caregiver Program is a 12 hour educational program for family and friends caring for individuals with dementia living in the community.  There is no cost to attend. Participants will obtain the attitude, skills and knowledge that is necessary to keep a person with dementia content and involved in their life at home.  Caregivers will, 1) learn what dementia is and how it affects the person and the person’s behavior; 2) learn tips and strategies for interacting and communicating with the person and how to understand and manage challenging behaviors; and 3) develop a sense of confidence in caregiving and also learn how to care for themselves.

Pre-registration is required.  For more information or to register, please call 207-623-0764 ext. 1656 or 1657.
