Camden Snow Bowl racers continue strong season at Kents HillMidcoast boys squad captures fifth straight win
Readfield — The Camden Snow Bowl middle school ski racing team competed on a challenging course at the Maranacook Invitational slalom meet on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Kents Hill.
It was a warm day and the race took place on a thin man-made base as nine teams participated, said CSB coach Weber Roberts.
The CSB boys won their fifth straight meet. Two of the team's top boys were unable to attend the meet and two more fell on their first runs, but Max Moore saved the win with "one of his best performances of the season, posting two solid slalom runs and sliding in with a great finish," said coach Roberts.
Sawyer King also had his best finish of the season, the coach said.
Scoring were Aidan Manahan of Great Salt Bay, Sawyer King of Appleton Village School, Micheal Frampton of Ashwood-Waldorf School and Max Moore of Camden-Rockport.
The CSB girls finished fourth despite losing two of their competitors to falls. Lindsey Reilly "had two great runs stepping her up into the scoring for the Snow Bowl girls, Roberts said.
“Overall, the snow was not great, but the whole team stepped up once again," the coach said. "Watch out for the girls. They are starting to really improve with each race, as their confidence builds.”
