Camden Rotary seeks grant applications

Feb 16, 2014
Sharon Nardo from Hershey, Pa., got more than she bargained for in attending the National Toboggan Championships at the Camden Snow Bowl last weekend: the 12-foot handcrafted toboggan she won in a recent raffle organized by the Camden Rotary Cub. Club member David Vaughn presents the prize to Sharon, who was visiting the Mid-Coast with her husband Jim to celebrate their 39th wedding anniversary. The couple’s five children and seven grandchildren are pretty excited about this raffle prize. Who knows? There may be more family members at next year’s championships, this time as competitors! Proceeds from the raffle will benefit local nonprofits through Rotary’s grant program.

Each year, Camden Rotary Club provides financial support in the form of grants to organizations that work to improve the lives of people in Knox County and the town of Lincolnville.

The club’s charitable donations committee is seeking applications from nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations in Knox County for 2014.

The grants will be divided into the following gift categories: one $5,000 gift for a youth-oriented program; five $1,000 small gifts for community organizations; one $5,000 large gift for a community organization; and one large $10,000 gift for a community organization

Organizations interested in applying for grants should visit camdenrotary.org and click on the “Applications and Forms” tab. Applications may also be obtained from any member of the club.

All applications should be sent to Camden Rotary Club, Charitable Gifts Committee, P.O. Box 602, Camden, ME 04843, no later than March 14.
