Camden — The Camden Fire Department remains on scene with the Fire Marshal's office at 25 Lily Pond Drive after a fire swept through a home Tuesday afternoon.

The call came in to Knox County Regional Communication Center at 1:55 p.m. as a report of smoke. Fire Departments from Camden, Rockport, Hope and Lincolnville responded within minutes, but the home was fully engulfed.

Online tax records compiled by Vision Appraisal state the 5,640 square foot home valued at more than $700,000 is owned by David and Leslie Vangel.

According to Camden Fire Chief Chris Farley, the Vangel's home was insured and the Red Cross is on scene to assist the family.

Very painful to see a home go up in smoke, so sorry for all that was lost. My thoughts are with  Leslie and David for a smooth recovery.
