Camden, Lincolnville and the Statue of Liberty
Lincolnville — Local resident Jay Foster will present Camden, Lincolnville and the Statue of Liberty Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. at the new Lincolnville Community Library.
Foster will tell about his grandfather, who in the 1930s was part of the Civilian Conservation Corps crew that built the facilities at what is now Tanglewood 4-H Camp in Lincolnville. A National Park Service employee, he was later transferred to the Statue of Liberty, where Foster spent lots of time with him. Foster will talk about the history of the CCC crew and its work in Lincolnville and Camden Hills State Park. He will also tell about the Statue of Liberty and its construction and restoration and share many historic photos from his personal collection.
The program is free and will include plenty of time for discussion. The new library is located at 208 Main St. in Lincolnville Center. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 763-3098.
