Camden Hills, USM Chamber Singers join forces
Rockport — The University of Southern Maine Chamber Singers will present a special concert, as part of their annual Spring Tour, Tuesday, April 1, at 7 p.m. in Strom Auditorium of Camden Hills Regional High School, Route 90.
Directed by Dr. Robert Russell, the 25-person ensemble will present a program of great musical variety. The evening will open with the Camden Hills Chamber Singers joining in with the singing of “Jai Ho!” written by A. R. Rahman and arranged by Ethan Spelling. “Jai Ho!” was featured in the popular movie “Slumdog Millionaire.”
The USM Chamber Singers will continue with the a cappella “Bogoroditse Devo” by Sergei Rachmaninoff and “Wana Baraka,” arranged by Shawn L. Kirchner. The choirs will join again on the beautiful Morten Lauridsen arrangement of “Sure on This Shining Night” with text by Sara Teasedale. The USM Chamber Singers will finish program, singing a variety of pieces by Moses Hogan, Ysaye Barnwell and Robert DeCormier.
