Rockport — It seemed as if the Camden Hills boys basketball team was stuck in neutral for much of the first half of its Thursday, Dec. 12 high school contest against visiting Belfast.

However, the Windjammers (2-1) shifted into high gear with a 25-2 third-quarter run and surged to a 77-57 win over the Lions (0-3) in a battle between Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B clubs.

Belfast led 19-14 after the first eight minutes, but Camden Hills made a late run in the second quarter and took a 38-37 advantage at halftime. The Windjammers then took control as they surged to a 63-39 cushion after three quarters.

Colin Morse led Camden Hills with a 22-point effort, while Connor Graffam also tossed in 13 points in the win.

For Belfast, Korey Doolan scored 22 points, while Eduardo DeSaPinto added 11.

Additional scoring information was unavailable.

The Windjammers had trouble containing Belfast's DeSaPinto, an Italian exchange student, in the first half, as he netted four field goals — including two 3-pointers — in the first 16 minutes. However, the hosts turned up the defensive pressure in the second half on the 6-foot-5-inch exchange student and held him without a point over the final 16 minutes.

Camden Hills trailed for nearly the entire first half before a late hoop with 16 seconds left gave the squad its first lead of the contest.
