Camden Hills seventh in prestigious Noble Tournament

Winchenbach second, Underhill, Jones, Littlejohn fourth in talent-laden event

Berwick — The Camden Hills wrestling team competed in the prestigious, historic and talent-laden Noble Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 27-28 and the Windjammers turned in impressive efforts on several levels.

Marshwood of Eliot finished first in the high school competition with Camden Hills seventh. The tourney draws teams from Maine and other New England states.

For Camden Hills, Connor Winchenbach finished second at 152 pounds, John Underhill fourth at 132 pounds, Brian Jones fourth at 182, Kaylo Littlejohn fourth at 285, Elvis Bowen sixth at 160 and Brian Clement sixth at 220.

The individual results for Camden Hills, with Windjammer wrestlers listed first, were:

113 pounds — Hilary Merrifield was pinned by Trevor Haskins, Mount Mans, at 1:05; beat Adam Cloutier, Mass, 6-0; and was pinned by Biruk Moore, Marsh, at 1:38.

120 pounds — Zac Collins received a bye; was pinned by Peter Delgallo, Gard, at 2:35; received two byes; and was pinned by Jake Martel, Noble, at 3:51.

126 pounds — James Archer received a first-round bye; was pinned by Max Storm, West, at 3:02; received a bye; won by technical fall over Ethan Winde, Wind, 16-0; pinned Scott Smith, MtA, at 0:27; and lost to J.D. Martin, Lis, 12-10 in overtime.

132 pounds — Underhill received a first-round bye; pinned Cam Bell, Gard, at 2:58; lost by technical fall to Dagan Berenyi, Ells, 18-3; beat Brandon Huntington, Wind, 3-2; won by major decision over Bryce Bernadine, MountMan, 10-2; pinned Brandon Gill, MountVal, at 0:57; and lost to Julian Sirois, Skow, 6-0. Underhill finished fourth.

138 pounds — Tyler Wood was pinned by Bradley Randall, Wind, at 1:30; received a bye; and was pinned by Alex Martinez, LaSalle, at 3:04.

145 pounds — Taylor Crosby was pinned by Sam Hebert, Marsh, at 0:52; received a bye; pinned Patrick Hopkins, Win, at 2:34; pinned Jon Stolz, Scar, at 0:45; pinned Ryan Buzzell, FryeA, at 3:35; and was pinned by Hebert, Marsh, at 5:41.

152 pounds — Winchenbach pinned Noah Schnider, Mass, at 3:04; won by major decision over Jordan Armenta, Noble, 9-0; beat Steve Cipolla, LaSalle, 4-1; won by major decision over Logan Stevens, Skow, 17-8; and lost to Robert Heatherman, MtA, 5-0 in the championship final. Winchenbach finished second.

160 pounds — Bowen received a bye; pinned P.J. Walker, Noble, at 3:29; lost to John Heatherman, MtA, 7-2; pinned Austin Smith, Ells, at 3:37; won by major decision over Matt Andrew, LaSalle, 9-0; lost to Hunter Day, FryeA, 11-8; and was pinned by Andrew Burns, Kenn, at 4:17. Bowen finished sixth.

170 pounds — Wyatt Parra was pinned by Joe Grenier, Noble, at 2:43; received a bye; and lost by major decision to Justin Roberge, San, 12-2.

182 pounds — Jones received a bye; beat Jeff Weeks, Ells, 4-1; lost by major decision to Trevor Henschel, FryeA, 13-1; pinned Jason Black, MtA, at 1:42; beat Hunter Smith, Noble, 8-5; beat Jake Truman, Gard, 5-4; and lost to Brandon Brock, FoxA, 2-0. Jones finished fourth.

195 pounds — Jared Gilbert pinned Craig Chambers, FoxA, at 3:40; lost by technical fall to Mike Risti, Mass, 16-0; and was pinned by Zach Schluntz, Noble, at 1:56.

220 pounds — Clement lost to Nik Burnelle, MountMan, 10-8; pinned Drew Martinelli, LaSalle, at 4:45; pinned Jake Zenga, Noble, at 2:26; beat Justin McGuire, Skow, 6-3; lost to Anthony Boucher, MountVal, 5-3; and was pinned by Teejay Salisbury, West, at 4:55. Clement finished sixth.

285 pounds — Littlejohn received a first-round bye; was pinned by Tanner Andrews, Mass, at 5:18; received two byes; pinned Steven Genereaux, San, at 1:27; pinned Mike Darling, Deer, at 3:24; pinned Colin Higgins, Lis, at 2:15; beat Jordan Drain, Mass, 7-2; and lost to Jake Hodgkins, Wind, 6-2. Littlejohn finished fourth.
