Camden Hills homecoming events Oct. 10-12
Rockport — Camden Hills Regional High School has announced its homecoming schedule and special guests. Homecoming will be Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 10-12.
A pep rally will be Thursday, Oct. 10 in the school gymnasium. On Friday, Oct. 11, the cross-country team will host its only invitational meet. At 7 p.m. that night, the football team will host Nokomis of Newport in a rare "under the lights" contest on Don Palmer Field. Immediately following the football game there will be fireworks. Friday also is senior recognition for cross-country and football teams members.
On Saturday, Oct. 12, the school will host six soccer games versus Oceanside and two field hockey games versus Gardner.
This year's special guests are Gary Spinney, who will serve as honorary athletic director and coach of the day, and Jan Graffam, the day's honorary fan.
The school also will recognize the players and coaches from the 1960-61 Rockport High School boys basketball team who finished as state runners-up. The team lost in the state championship game by two points. Coach Vernon Hunter and many of his players will be present.
This year's homecoming also will be the official Camden Hills Community Bleacher Project Kickoff. Students, coaches, faculty and community members are working to raise $175,000 for the funding of new bleachers and a press box at the school. Patrons of homecoming will have the opportunity to learn more about the bleacher campaign and the opportunity to donate or purchase a brick for "victory lane."
