Camden Hills football to end regular season with two night gamesHistoric first gridiron battle 'under the lights' at Don Palmer Field
Rockport — For the first time in the brief history of Camden Hills Regional High School football, this fall's squad, under the direction of head coach Steve Wadsworth, will host a pair of night games to end the regular season.
Thanks to the hard work of the Windjammer football coaching staff and members of the Five Town Football organization, said school athletic director Steve Alex, Camden Hills will play its first home night game "under the lights." With the aid of portable rental light units, Camden Hills will join the ranks of other high schools in the state and light up the gridiron, Alex said.
The Camden Hills Windjammers will host the Nokomis Warriors of Newport at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 and will conclude the regular season against Belfast at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Don Palmer Field.
Alex said during halftime of the 'Jammers/Warriors game, Five Town Football, the local organization that helps fund the Camden Hills football program, and the 2011 fourth- and fifth-grade youth team, which captured the Maine Youth Football League Jayvee Championship, will be honored.
This year's fourth- and fifth-grade team is 6-1 and has outscored opponents 196-20.
"The future looks bright for Camden Hills football so please join us for a special night of football under the lights, with full concessions, for a fun evening of entertainment," Alex said.
Alex said fans also should note that the school does not allow pets on the campus.
