Camden Hills boys prevail in first Nordic race of seasonWindjammer girls third in cold first home meet
Rockport — The Camden Hills boys and girls Nordic ski teams started the 2012-13 season amid single-digit temperatures Wednesday, Jan. 2, as the Windjammers hosted a seven-team meet with participants from six schools.
Seventy-three racers from Brunswick, Hampden Academy, John Bapst of Bangor, Orono, Mount Ararat of Topsham, Boothbay Region and host Camden Hills took part in the 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) freestyle race, with the Camden Hills boys and Mount Ararat girls earning team victories.
The boys team scores were: Camden Hills 28, Mount Ararat 37 and Orono 43. The other teams did not have enough skiers to compile team scores.
The girls team scores were: Mount Ararat 23, Orono 37 and Camden Hills 55. The other teams did not have enough skiers to compile team scores.
The individual Windjammer boys results included: 5, Cole Ellison, 19:32.5; 6, Alex Wilder, 19:34.7; 8, Connor Lane, 20:59.3; 9, Will Conover, 21:26.2; 14, Taylor Benner, 22:31.1; 28, Paul Woodworth, 26:22.7; and 41, Orion Krause, 37:15.2.
The individual Windjammer girls results included: 6, Sarah Scott, 25:26; 10, Rebecca Gray, 27:08.4; 18, Alexandra Dobbins, 31:15.1; 21, Audrey Lane, 32:38.8; 22, Clare Horne, 32:50; 24, Tori Arau, 35:04.9; 26, Sarah Mayberry, 36:40.6; 28, Katelin Moody, 38:07.9; 29, Martha Moskowitz, 38:24.1; 30, Jolly Brown, 39:12.4; and 31, Raine Ellison, 39:36.7.
